The two-time Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama, who passed away on Oct. 2 from complications due to liver cancer at the age of 60, triumphed on Broadway with his cycle of plays chronicling the 20th Century African American experience. The plays include; 1900's Gem of the Ocean, 1910's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, 1920's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, 1930's The Piano Lesson, 1940's Seven Guitars, 1950's Fences, 1960's Two Trains Running, 1970's Jitney, 1980's King Hedley II and the more recent 1990's Radio Golf, the tenth and final play in Wilson's cycle, set to debut in New York next season at the August Wilson Theatre.

Wilson will be honored by theatre's brightest stars, many of whom have performed in one or more of August Wilson's epics on Broadway or Off-Broadway.
