GENERAL FORECAST

During the Year of the Water Snake, the element of water sits on top of the fire element so they are in conflict. The Snake represents the month of May, a time of vigorous plant growth and signaling the oncoming zenith of summer, the hottest time of the year, possibly sparking revolution, change, violence and conflict. In recent times, the attack on Pearl Harbor fall of the Berlin Wall as well the Soviet Union, Tiananmen Square and 9/11 all occurred during Snake years. It is likely that there will be accidents and disasters involving air and sea, trains and ships, tornadoes and hurricanes, explosions and fires.  Children continue to be at risk.

In contrast to last year’s Dragon, the most yang of the twelve zodiac signs, it is followed by the Snake which represents the other end of the spectrum as the most yin. It can bring innovation, new ideas, reform, invention and advances in trade, travel and communication. The months of the Tiger (February) and the Monkey (August) create a trinity of hidden danger with the Snake. Unfortunate disasters involving fire or explosions during those months, as well as major health problems related to the heart, kidneys, circulation, brain, eyes, and blood. There may be viruses and epidemics as already evidenced with this year’s flu season which is proving to be one of the worst.

Those born in the Year of the Boar are opposite to the Snake on the zodiac, and both Snakes and Boars should carry a Monkey charm for protection. These folks will also be on the move this year and so there may be a change in residence, job or more traveling. People who are born in a year ending in a 2 or 3 are protected and the Year of the Snake is a good year to have a child, especially between August 7 and September 7, or up to January 30, 2014.

Confidence and optimism will rise this year, especially during the spring and summer resulting in   increased activity in stock market and a strengthened economy which continue into 2014. The industries that well prosper this year include: property, hotels, mining, cars, insurance, publishing, manufacturing, textiles and fashion, books and environment, shipping, engineering, transportation, high tech. Business that may be flat are in energy, finance and restaurants. The entertainment industry will also thrive but amidst great competition.

Snake Year notables include: Abraham Lincoln, Picasso, Ben Stiller, Jacqueline Onassis, Ann Margaret, Brahms, Schubert, John F. Kennedy, Mary Pickford, Sarah Jessica Parker, Howard Hughes, Ben Bernanke, Greta Garbo, Mao-Tse-tung, Princess Grace of Monaco, J. Paul Getty, and Edgar Allan Poe.

Advice for the year: Take your Omega 3, Vitamins C and E. Wash your hands often, drink lots of water to keep your kidneys functioning well. Start or keep exercising for your heart and good circulation and overall health.
