Astronaut Leroy Chiao's Space Blog-Salamat Basin in Chad: This is one of my favorite shots. I used a 400mm lens and caught this piece of the Salamat Basin in Chad. The different colors of the sand form an interesting contrast to the rock structures. The tops of the rock look as if they have been sanded down to the same height, while the sides are rough and jagged. There is something very appealing about this one.

Our orbit does not currently take us over Southeast Asia during daylight, so I have not been able to observe or photograph the devastation. Sounds awful.
