Actor Ed Skrein quits reboot of
Hollywood September 15, 2017 by Suzanne Kai The controversial practice of whitewashing movies has been going on for nearly a century in Hollywood. In the 1930's even the starring role of the Charlie Chan movies, scripted to be a Chinese man, was given to white actors pretending to play Chinese men.  Fast forward to 2017 - Ed Skrein, an English actor and rapper, wins the "Hellboy" movie role of Major Ben Saimio, a character of Japanese heritage in the original comic books....

Award-winning series co-creator Liz Cheng and her team have curated this stellar slate of films for May's AAPI Heritage Month. Cheng is WGBH's General Manager for Television which reaches local and national viewers, including series Local, USA, Doc World, and Stories from the Stage for WORLD Channel which reaches 152 stations in markets representing 63% of U.S. television households.

Happy Lunar New Year! The Lunar New Year begins Friday, February 16, 2018!

Ben Fong-Torres and Julie Haener co-host Southwest Airlines® Chinese New Year Parade on February 24 in San Francisco beginning at 5:15pm PST. Organizers expect 1.2 million people will be attending in person.

The Parade will be broadcast live on KTVU Fox 2 or KTSF Channel 26 6:00-8:00pm Saturday February 24, 2018 on television! Watch the Parade live from the streets in San Francisco - the largest of its kind outside of Asia! It will weave its way through San Francisco Chinatown and ends at Jackson and Kearny Streets. Named one of the top ten Parades in the world by International Festivals & Events Association, this is truly a sight to see.

The parade began in San Francisco more than one hundred years ago, and is one of the few remaining night illuminated parades in North America.

Crazy Rich Asians - The Movie is coming to screens August, 2018

Crazy Rich Asians directed by Jon M. Chu is coming to theaters August 17, 2018  

This marks the first all-Asian ensemble cast for a Hollywood movie in more than two decades. The last movie to have an all-Asian cast was The Joy Luck Club.

Based on the novel by Kevin Kwan, the movie stars Constance Wu ("Fresh Off the Boat") as Rachel, a professor of economics who is an American-born Chinese, and Harry Golding who plays Nick, her boyfriend. (Photo credit: Warner Bros.)

Rachel accompanies Nick to Asia to meet his relatives, and discovers he is a member of one of Asia's wealthiest families, and is catapulted into the world of the super-rich.

The ensemble cast also includes Michelle Yeoh, Gemma Chan, Ken Jeong, Awkwafina, and Sonoya Mizuno.

Kevin Kwan's novel Crazy Rich Asians (2013), is followed by sequel China Rich Girlfriend (2015), and Rich People Problems (2017).
